DIY Fall Home Décor Flower Pumpkins

Getting into the spirit of fall is an exciting time for festive decorations. This DIY flower pumpkin project is so easy and great to make with kids after a fun day together at the pumpkin patch.

Get ready for the fall season with this fun DIY project incorporating beautiful flowers and the traditional autumn pumpkin. This DIY activity is fun for the whole family and bring out your creative side compared to traditional pumpkin carving.

Materials:

  • Flowers of different colors and sizes of your personal preference
  • Green leaves, twigs, and decorative smaller flowers
  • Sharp serrated knife
  • Scissors or shears
  •  Floral foam
  • Medium-large sized pumpkin (depending on the flower arrangement you desire)

Directions

1.       With a sharp serrated knife, gently cut a circle around the pumpkin stem; you can use a measuring stick to be more precise and trace out a line.
2.      After you have the top of the pumpkin off, take out everything inside. (You can separate the seeds from the pulp for a DIYroasted pumpkin seed recipe).
3.      Once everything inside the pumpkin has been removed, use the pumpkin tip with a handle to place 3-4 wooden skewer sticks.
4.      Then, place a bag inside the pumpkin and try fitting the floral foam into the pumpkin.
 5.     Then, soak the floral foam in a tub or bucket underwater until it sinks naturally for a few minutes. When you see water bubbles, the foam is ready to use.
6.      After that, you are ready to cut the foam to fit the pumpkin, then use a tablespoon of sugar to sprinkle on top for the flowers to last longer gently.
7.      Then cut the flower stems at a 45-degree angle and place the flowers in a circle looking towards the pumpkin. Make sure to insert the longest flower stems in the middle pointing all the flowers indifferent directions.
8.      Bam, you are ready for fall! Make sure to take a picture for Instagram and put on display to enjoy.
